MISSION OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAM
“Emphasizing the teacher as scholar-practitioner, the program seeks to prepare teachers who value the intellectual domain and its relationship to teaching, teachers who are committed to the learning success of every student, and teachers who are passionate about teaching and the students with whom they work. The program’s mission is to provide the best possible professional development for practicing teachers and the best teach preparation for those seeking to enter public, independent, or parochial school teaching.”
The College’s Teacher Apprentice Program is based on nearly twenty-five years of experience working with site-based, apprenticeship models. The Teacher Apprentice Program was founded as a graduate program for individuals who are seeking initial teacher licensure in Ohio. Viewing education as a transformative process for all who participate in the program – apprentices, students, classroom mentors and graduate faculty – the program provides cutting edge thinking and practice within the context of a carefully mentored experience within the school.
The College’s Fellows Program brings the latest thought and research on teaching and learning to practicing classroom teachers. Designed as a cohort program and aligned with the Core Propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the Fellows Program seeks to provide a master’s education that will truly enhance the scholarship and practice of classroom teachers. |
