Library Services

The New Teachers College will provide library resources and services to its students through its partnership with the Cuyahoga County Public Library:  cuyahogalibrary.org.

During orientation to the College, graduate students will receive a free membership to CCPL and an orientation to the many resources available to them through the CCPL system.

The Cuyahoga County Public Library has 28 branches throughout Cuyahoga County and over 2,750,000 books. Through their membership with CCPL, graduate students will have access to ERIC’s 800,000 references and thousands of educational resources. Students will have access to SearchOhio which is composed of a consortium of six library organizations. This consortium makes over 7,000,000 items available to borrowers.

Graduate students will also have access to OhioLink from any computer via their membership with the Cuyahoga County Public Library. OhioLink is an agreement among 84 Ohio college and university libraries, some public libraries and the State Library of Ohio for sharing items statewide. OhioLink offers access to more than 44.5 million library items statewide. CLEVENET, also accessible to TNTC graduate students, is a consortium of 31 public library systems in nine counties throughout Northern Ohio.

Part of the orientation for each new cohort of students will include use of libraries, media centers and computers both at the College and at the CCPL library branches. Orientations will include introduction to library research, selecting and searching electronic databases, and using the Internet as a research tool.

The College employs a part-time librarian who is available for assistance, who oversees acquisitions and who coordinates services with the CCPL.
